Chapter 6. Diagnostics

6.1 Configuration Faults

In the event there are differences between the expected, configured modules and the actual modules present
in the RX3i CEP Carrier or the RX3i CEP Expansion Carrier, when a connection is established, the RX3i CEP
indicates differences back to the IO-Controller.
If a module is configured, but is not present or operational in the RX3i CEP Carrier or the RX3i CEP
Expansion Carrier, the RX3i CEP indicates there is no module. When used with an RX3i PROFINET
IO-Controller, a "Loss of Module" fault is reported and all point faults for the missing module have
the Fault Contact on.
If a module is configured but does not match the module present, the RX3i CEP reports the
module as wrong. When used with an RX3i PROFINET I/O Controller, a System Configuration
Mismatch fault is reported and all point faults for the module have the Fault Contact on.
If the module configured is correct, but the module has sub-module options that relate to a DIP
Switch setting on the hardware and the DIP Switch does not match the configuration, the RX3i
CEP reports the module as wrong. When used with an RX3i PROFINET I/O Controller, a System
Configuration Mismatch fault is reported and all point faults for the module have the Fault
Contact on.
If the actual module correctly matches the configured module, but the configuration for the
module is unacceptable, the module rejects the configuration and energizes point faults until the
configuration is corrected. Many modules blink their OK LED when they reject the configuration.
If a module is installed but not included in the configuration, no problem is reported. The module
is ignored by the RX3i CEP and defaults itself.
Refer to
RX3i CEP Configuration Validation
to validate their configuration.

6.2 Version Information

The RX3i CEP supports the standard PROFINET Identification and Maintenance (I&M) functions. I&M Revision
information is returned for the slot 0 (indicates the RX3i CEP Carrier itself) with the information for the RX3i
CEP Carrier.
Refer to the PACSystems RX3i & RSTi-EP PROFINET I/O Controller Manual, GFK-2571, Chapter 3, specifically to
the documentation for the I/O Controller and configuration tool to access I&M data. For the RX3i PROFINET IO-
Controller, this is available under the Explore PROFINET Networks option in Proficy Machine Edition.
