To synchronize your HP iPAQ and your computer using the desktop cradle or an
autosync cable:
1. Insert the Getting Started CD into your personal computer.
The HP Install Wizard begins automatically.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
NOTE If you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes to restart your
personal computer now, or click No to restart it later.
If you restart your personal computer, be sure to run the Getting Stared CD
again to complete the setup process.
3. Plug the AC Adapter into an electrical outlet and connect the other end of
the AC Adapter to the barrel connector on the desktop cradle or autosync
cable.
4. Connect the USB cable connector from the desktop cradle or autosync cable
to your computer.
5. Perform one of the following:
• Slide the bottom of your HP iPAQ into the desktop cradle and push
firmly to seat it.
• Connect the 22-pin connector on the autosync cable to the universal
sync connector on the bottom of your HP iPAQ.
CAUTION To avoid damaging your HP iPAQ or the AC Adapter, check to
be sure all connectors are properly aligned before connecting them.
6. After ActiveSync is installed and your HP iPAQ is connected to your
computer. The Welcome to the Pocket PC Sync Setup Wizard
screen appears. Click Next to complete this Synchronization Setup Wizard
before returning to the HP iPAQ Getting Started CD
a. The Synchronize directly with a server screen appears.
• Check the box if you want to synchronize directly with a Microsoft
Exchange server, then click Next. (You will need to enter the server
address and your logon credentials to synchronize directly to a Microsoft
Exchange server.)
• If you do not want to synchronize directly with a Microsoft Exchange
server, uncheck the box and click Next.
