Electrostatic Discharge Protection

The GSM engine is not protected against Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) in general.
Consequently, it is subject to ESD handling precautions that typically apply to ESD sensitive
components.
However, the antenna port, the SIM interface, the Akku_Temp port, the POWER port and
the Battery lines on the GSM engine have with spark gaps and clamp diodes to protect these
lines from overvoltage.
The ESD protection of the GSM engine does not cover the components placed on the
customer application platform. For all these components, ESD protection must be
implemented on the platform that incorporates the GSM engine.
