SURFACE UNITS

WARNING
FIRE HAZARD: Never leave t he range
unat tended wit h t he cooktop ON above a Lo set t ing. Keep
flammable items away from t he cooktop. Turn off all cont rols
when done cooking. Failure to follow t hese inst ruct ions can
result in fire, serious injury or deat h.
Throughout t his manual, feat ures and appearance may vary
from your model.
How t o Set
Push t he knob in and t urn in eit her direct ion t o t he set t ing
you want .
A surface ON indicat or light will glow when any surface unit
is on.
For glass cookt op surfaces:
A HOT COOKTOP indicat or light will:
• come on when t he unit is hot t o t he t ouch.
• st ay on even aft er t he unit is t urned off.
• st ay on unt il t he unit is cooled t o approximat ely 150°F.
At bot h OFF and HI t he cont rol clicks int o posit ion. You may hear slight
clicking sounds during cooking, indicat ing t he cont rol is maint aining your
desired set t ing.
Be sure you t urn t he cont rol knob t o OFF when you finish cooking.
Temperat ure Limit er on Radiant Glass
Cookt ops
Every radiant surface unit has a t emperat ure limit er.
The t emperat ure limit er prot ect s t he glass cookt op from
get t ing t oo hot .
The t emperat ure limit er may cycle t he surface unit s off for a
t ime if:
• t he pan boils dry.
• t he pan bot t om is not flat .
• t he pan is off- cent er.
• t here is no pan on t he unit .

Radiant Glass Cookt op
The radiant cookt op feat ures heat ing unit s beneat h a smoot h
glass surface.
NOTE: A slight odor is normal when a new cookt op is used
for t he first t ime. It is caused by t he heat ing of new part s and
insulat ing mat erials and will disappear in a short t ime.
NOTE: On models wit h light - colored glass cookt ops, it is
normal for t he cooking zones t o change color when hot or
cooling down. This is t emporary and will disappear as t he
glass cools t o room t emperat ure.
The surface unit will cycle on and off t o maint ain your
select ed cont rol set t ing.
It is safe t o place hot cookware on t he glass surface even
when t he cookt op is cool.
Even aft er t he surface unit s are t urned off, t he glass
cookt op ret ains enough heat t o cont inue cooking. To avoid
overcooking, remove pans from t he surface unit s when t he
food is cooked. Avoid placing anyt hing on t he surface unit
unt il it has cooled complet ely.
• Wat er st ains (mineral deposit s) are removable using t he
cleaning cream or full- st rengt h whit e vinegar.
• Use of window cleaner may leave an iridescent film on t he
cookt op. The cleaning cream will remove t his film.
• Don't st ore heavy it ems above t he cookt op. If t hey drop
ont o t he cookt op, t hey can cause damage.
• Do not use t he surface as a cut t ing board.
Never cook direct ly on t he glass.
Always use cookware.
Do not slide cookware across t he cookt op because it can scrat ch t he
glass—t he glass is scrat ch- resist ant , not scrat ch proof.
Always place t he pan in t he
cent er of t he surface unit you are
cooking on.
