Starter
Assembly
Clean the component parts and
assemble in the reverse order as set out
for dismantling.
Assemble a new return spring.
Assemble the new starter cord.
Assemble the starter pulley.
NOTE!
A new starter cord can be fitted
without the need of dismantling
the starter!

Clean component parts before
assembling.
Replace the return spring/starter pulley
and starter cord, if necessary.
NOTE!
As a spare part the return spring
is supplied rolled up and secured
by a plastic band.
Exercise care when opening the
packaging so that the spring does
not fly out.
Assemble a new return spring.
1. Position the spring in the cover so
the outer end of the spring is
straight above the securing lug (A).
2. Turn the spring so that it is
tensioned when the inner end of the
spring is rotated anti-clockwise.
3. Push down the spring using a
screwdriver and at the same time
use your thumb to push so the
plastic band (B) slides away from
the spring. Remove the plastic band
(B). Exercise care so the spring
does not fly out!
Assemble the new starter cord.
1. Tie a knot 20 mm from the end of
the starter cord.
2. Position the knot and the free end of
the cord as illustrated.
3. Wind the starter cord anti-clockwise
around the hub of the starter pulley
and ensure that the cord is pushed
down properly in the cut-out on the
reinforcement ribs.
4. Insert the cord through the starter
pulley and wind the cord 3 turns
anti-clockwise on the starter pulley.
Assemble the starter pulley.
Lubricate the bearing journal with a
little grease.
Insert the starter cord through the cord
guide in the starter cover.
Position the starter pulley, put the
washer in place and tighten the screw.
