Procedure
Step 1 Obtain and install OceanStor Toolkit (a tool for initializing the N8500).
In the address box of the Internet Explorer, enter http://support.huawei.com/enterprise.
Choose Software > IT > Storage > Tools and Platform > OceanStor Toolkit to download
OceanStor Toolkit V100R001CxxSPCxxx to the PC. Then, run the installation program to
install the tool as prompted.
Step 2 Double-click OceanStor Toolkit for activation. Then start the deployment tool for the clustered
NAS storage system and add software packages required for the clustered NAS deployment.

has been closed.

l You are advised to install JRE1.6.0_20 for matching OceanStor
Toolkit . If a version earlier than JRE1.6.0_20 has been installed,
JRE1.6.0_20 instead of the earlier one will take effect
immediately after being installed. If a version later than
JRE1.6.0_20 has been installed, uninstall the later version before
installing JRE1.6.0_20 to enable JRE1.6.0_20 to automatically
take effect upon being installed.
l The following method of setting automatic update only applies
to a JRE version that has the Update tab page.
After you have installed the recommended JRE version, you
may be informed that the JRE version is incorrect when
downloading the DeviceManager next time. This problem
occurs because the JRE version is automatically updated to
a later one. In this situation, you are advised to disable the
automatic update function on the Java control panel after
installing the JRE. To disable the automatic update function,
perform the following steps:
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Java. Right-click the
mouse and choose Open. The Java Control Panel dialog
box is displayed.
2. Click the Update tab.
3. Ensure that Automatic check and update check box is
not selected. If it is selected, deselect it.
4. Click OK to exit the Java Control Panel dialog box.
