Receiver problems
No power, even when BSTANDBY ON is pressed. Mains lead not (properly)
Volume turns down automatically/sound switches
off completely.
Display does not light up.
Receiver goes to standby automatically
(Standby LED) flashes and cannot be activated again.
Remote control problems
No reaction on remote control commands.
Remote control mode does not light up in
status window (3).
Speaker problems
Poor sound or no sound at all from one or more
speakers.
Reversed left and right sound.
Sound level of one or more speakers is too high
or too low.

11.Troubleshooting

WARNING
Under no circumstances should you try to repair the set yourself as this will invalidate the
guarantee. Do not open the set as there is a risk of electric shock.

2) visit http://www.philips.com/support for online support;
3) call our help line (see page 63).
Possible cause
connected.
Set became too hot.
Display brightness has been set
to 0.
Internal overheating.
Possible cause
Batteries not properly inserted.
Distance to DFR9000 too great.
Wrong remote control mode.
Batteries exhausted.
Possible cause
Speaker(s) not (properly) connected.
Speaker size, distance and/or volume
not properly set.
'Mute' (11) activated.
Speaker size set to 'None'
in 'Speaker' menu.
Speakers not properly connected.
Sound level not (properly)
adjusted.
Solution
(Properly) connect the mains lead.
Wait until set has cooled down.
Increase display brightness with
DIM (22) on the remote control.
Move the receiver away from the heat sources
(or vice versa).
Make sure nothing is placed on top of the
receiver.
Make sure the receiver is not placed on top of
equipment that might heat up (e.g. another
receiver or amplifier).
Make sure all air inlets and outlets are clear
from obstructions.
Solution
Insert batteries properly.
Reduce distance.
Use SELECT (3) to select RECVR.
Replace batteries.
Solution
Connect speaker(s) properly.
See '4.8 Connecting the speakers'.
(Properly) set speaker size, distance and/or
volume. See '6.4 Setting the speaker size and
distance' and '6.5 Setting the speaker volume'.
Disable 'Mute' (11).
Select correct speaker size. See '6.4 Setting the
speaker size.
Connect speakers properly.
See '4.8 Connecting the speakers'.
(Properly) adjust sound level of the speaker(s).
See '6.5 Setting the speaker volume'.
