Using the Setup Display

You can set up the sound on the Unit.
Selecting the surround mode
(DVP-NW50 only)

Press MODE on the DVD display.
The following display appears.

Press the "SURR" SELECT.
The following display appears.

Press any SELECT to select the desired surround
mode from the following selections.
See the explanations given for each item in the
following section.
2CH STEREO (2CH)
Outputs the sound from the front left and right speakers
only. Standard two channel (stereo) sources completely
bypass any processing. Multi channel surround formats
are downmixed to two channels.
A.F.D. (AUTO FORMAT DIRECT)
Surround mode is decoded as it is recorded on the disc,
without adding any effects (e.g. reverbertaion).
DOLBY PL (Dolby Pro Logic)
Performs Dolby Pro Logic decoding. A source recorded in
2 channels is decoded into 4 channels.
DOLBY PL II (Dolby Pro Logic II)
Performs Dolby Pro Logic II Movie decoding. This setting
is ideal for movies encoded in Dolby Surround. In
addition, this mode can reproduce sound in 5.1 channel
when watching videos of old movies or with dubbed
language.
To return to the previous display
Press BACK.
Note
When an input signal (e.g., multi channel, etc.) other than from a
2 channels source is input, "DOLBY PL" and "DOLBY PL II" are
decoded into "A.F.D."
