Foreword :
First of all English is not my common language so there could be some spelling and
grammatical faults in this document.
In 1999 I became the lucky owner ofa RD40 Traxys transceiver.
The receiver has no control unit and there was no suitable firmware for this transceiver
available for use the transceiver on amateur radio frequencies.
It was for me a challenge to make a modification to make this transceiver suitable for the 70cm.
On this moment the Tra-rys network is no longer in use in Holland and a lot of
Nokia RD40's become's free for Ham radio.
I made this document for those people which have found a Nokia Rd40 with no control unit.
I had the luck the company I work for had a service manual ofthe RD40 which I could use
for the modification.
To make the RD40 suitable i replaced the Nokia microcontroller printed circuit board
by an home made printed circuit board, which controls Rx and Tx and take care
of some audio stuff.
The circuit I made is simple from design with no hard to find components.
I know the audio circuit can have some improvement but it is suitable for me and is cheap.
As controller I make use of a PIC controller from microchip which have a lot of I/O and
peripherals inside.
Which is perfect for my application.
After some prototype's I finally made a this document and firmware , which you may use for
no commercial purpose.
Ilowever I give no guarantee and take no responsibility on the use ofthis document.
Everything you do is for you own risk.
