Operator Maintenance

There are no operator-serviceable parts inside the HP 7470A plotter.
Maintenance which can be performed by the operator is limited to
maintaining the appearance of the plotter.

paragraph for instructions on how to obtain servicing assistance.

General Cleaning

Disconnect the plotter from the power source prior to
performing any maintenance. DO NOT allow water to
run onto electrical components and circuits or through
openings in the enclosure as this may create a shock
hazard.
Do not attempt to clean the microgrip drive wheels.
Cleaning solutions may dissolve the adhesive which
secures the grit particles to the wheels.
Thorough cleaning should be performed periodically. Cleaning intervals
are determined by the type of operation, local
climatic conditions. Cleaning procedures should include the following:

1. Blow away dust accumulation in the pen stall areas with com­
pressed
cloth.
2. Clean the outer surface of the plotter with a damp sponge or cloth.
Use a mild soap and water solution, if necessary. Wipe dry after
cleaning.
NOTE: 'Ib
prevent scratching, do not use abrasive cleansers on the
plastic carriage cover or on the outer surface of the plotter. In
addition, some "mild" detergents might cause the paint to blister
because they contain chemicals that strip water-based paints. For
this reason, it is recommended that you use a soft cloth dampened
with a 50-50 solution of isopropyl alcohol and water. Then rinse off
any residue with water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth
