CHECK/ REPAIR:
POWERED ANODES
The water heaters covered by this Service Handbook are equipped with powered anodes. BTH 120 models
only use 1 powered anode, all others will have two. These anodes do not need to be replaced unless
damaged. The CCB monitors the current through the anodes and will declare a fault if there is a disconnected
wire or if there is no water in the tank.
POWER ANODE CLEANING AND REMOVAL
1. Shut off gas, water and power supply going to the heater.
2. Relieve water pressure by either opening Temperature-pressure relief valve (T & P relief valve), if it is
piped to a drain, or drain some water off by connecting a hose to the drain valve.
