my 140 w/gas will only spit weld an burn havent used alot but this is new,do you think something could have burned out thank you

Your Lincoln Electric Pro-MIG 140 may only be spitting weld and burning because the wire inside the welding whip has melted. This can happen if the whip gets too hot during use. When this occurs, the wire may short or stop feeding correctly. A temporary fix is to bypass the damaged section by attaching a wire externally (a "jerry-rigged" connection) to restore conductivity. You can also test by jumping the connection at the plug; if it starts working, the internal wire is likely damaged and needs repair.

    • Machine must be plugged into a receptacle which is grounded per any national, local or other applicable electrical codes. • The Pro-MIG 140 power switch is to be in the OFF (“O”) position when installing work cable and gun and when connecting power cord to input power.

    SELECT SUITABLE LOCATION Locate the welder in a dry location where there is free circulation of clean air into the louvers in the back and out the front of the unit. A location that minimizes the amount of smoke and dirt drawn into the rear louvers reduces the chance of dirt accumulation that can block air passages and cause overheating.

    GMAW (also known as MIG welding) and the Innershield electrode process (self shielded flux cored or FCAW). The Pro-MIG 140 is a rugged and reliable machine that has been designed for dependable service and long life.

    Accommodates both 4” (100 mm) diameter and 8” (200 mm) diameter spools of wire. WELDING CAPABILITY The Pro-MIG 140 is rated at 90 amps, 19 volts, at 20% duty cycle on a ten minute basis. It is capable of higher output currents at lower duty cycles.
