Where is the washer clean out

The clean-out location is in the recess area of the washer. The instructions mention cleaning the recess and removing all residue from the upper and lower parts of the recess.

Where is the recess area? Behind the back panel connected to the drain is a plastic thing but it’s not customer serviceable. It’s held together by big spring clips. The manual doesn’t say much about a clean out either. There is no access panel on the front. So where?
