1) Connect a fully charged battery pack to the XL-5 electronic
speed control (ESC) and turn on your transmitter.
2) The SET button on the XL-5 turns the model on and off.
Press the SET button until the light turns green and then
release. The light MUST be on for proper operation.
If the light is not green, the speed control is not fully on.
3) For forward throttle, pull the throttle trigger on the
transmitter towards you.
4) For braking, push the throttle trigger forward (away from you).
5) For reverse, release the throttle trigger to neutral (after
applying brakes and coming to a complete stop) and
once again push the throttle trigger forward.
Note that the brakes must be applied before reverse will engage.
If the model has rolled to a stop without braking, push the trigger
forward to apply the brakes, release to neutral, and then push
forward again to engage reverse.
6) To turn the model (ESC) off, press the SET button until
the green light turns off.
EZ-Set Tips
(See Owners Manual for more details)
7) If the model will be off for more than a few minutes,
disconnect the battery.
8) Always disconnect and remove batteries for storage.
Tip For Smooth Braking: For the best braking performance,
smoothly push the throttle trigger forward and hold at the desired
braking level. Do not pump the brakes. If the trigger is allowed
to return to neutral and then pushed forward again, reverse will
engage resulting in a sudden change in direction.
Optional Gearing Note: The included optional large pinion gear
is intended for high-speed running on hard surfaces. It is NOT for
off-road and repetitive starting and stopping conditions. Such use
creates excessive overheating and may damage your motor
(see the gearing instructions included in your optional
parts package).
XL-5 Operating Modes (Profiles):
Changing the mode is done by pressing and holding the
SET button until the XL-5 blinks red the number of times that
correspond with the desired Mode. Release the SET button
to select the Mode.
