Get Started The following topics give you all the information you need to set up your phone and Sprint Prepaid service the first time. Your Phone at a Glance The following illustration outlines your phone’s primary external features and keys. Set Up Your Phone You must first install and charge the battery to begin setting up your phone. 1. Install the battery. Hook your fingernail into the slot at the bottom of the battery cover and lift the cover off gently. Get Started...
Insert the battery, contacts end first, and gently press into place. Replace the cover, making sure all the locking tabs of the cover are seated with no gaps. Note: When you insert the battery, your phone may power on automatically. 2. Charge your battery. Plug the USB connector into the charger/accessory jack on the lower left side of your phone. Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet. Note: Your phone’s battery should have enough charge for the phone to turn on and find a signal, set up voicemail, and make a call. Register Your Phone on Sprint Prepaid 1. From your computer's browser, visit sprint.com/prepaidactivate. 2. Choose an activation option and click Next. 3. Enter your ZIP code and click Next. 4. When prompted, enter the serial number (MEID) printed on the label on your phone's packaging. 5. Follow the instructions to select a plan and payment method. If you're swapping phones or bringing your number over from a different carrier, follow the prompts to sign in or provide additional information. 6. Continue to follow the instructions to program your phone. Once you see the “Congrats” page, your phone and plan are activated. To confirm activation, make a phone call. Microphone allows other callers to hear you clearly when you are speaking to them. Emergency Call Key ( ) lets you call 9-1-1 immediately. Keypad lets you enter numbers, letters, and characters, and perform functions. End/Power Key ( ) lets you turn the phone on or off, end a call, or cancel your input and return to standby mode. Back Key ( ) deletes characters from the display in text input mode. When in a menu, pressing it returns you to the previous menu. This key also allows you to return to the previous screen in a data session. Navigation Key scrolls through the phone’s menu options and acts as a shortcut key in s tandby mode. Abc Mode In Abc mode, also known as multi-tap entry, you press keys one, two, three, or four times to enter the letters you see on the keypad. By default, the first letter of a sentence is capitalized and the following letters are lowercased. To switch between lowercase and uppercase, press the key. After a character is entered, the cursor automatically advances to the next space after two seconds or when you enter a character on a different key. 1. Select the Abc text input mode. Messaging Messaging allows you to stay connected 24 hours a day anywhere on the network. With your phone, you can use two types of messaging, text messaging (SMS) and multimedia messaging (MMS). With text messaging, you can send and receive instant text messages between your phone a nd another messaging-ready phone. Multimedia messages consist of both text and multimedia files, such as pictures or voice recordings. Compose Messages Use your phone to send text messages. 1. Press > M essaging.
