OPERATION
CAUTION: The router molor can be damaged by
debrls being sucked Into the motor It tho router ls
placed upsiie-down on the work surface before the
molor stops.
INSTALLI NG/ REMOVI NG CUTTERS
Dlsconnect Router lrom power supply belore ser-
vlcing.
1. Place the router upside down on a table and
insert shank of cutter to within 1/e" of bottom of
c o l l e t .
2. Hold the output shaft by depressing locking lever
until it engages notch in lock nut. See f igure 1.
3. Tighten the collet nut securely with the wrench
provided.
4 . R e m o v e c u t t e r s
b y l o o s e n i n g c o l l e t n u t e n o u g h t o
a l l o w c u t t e r t o s l i p e a s i l y f r o m c o l l e t . S h o u l d
cutter not slip easily f rom collet continue
loosening nut until nut presses against ring on
collet and forces collet and cutter from router.
The collet is machined to preclsion tolerances to fit
cutters with 1/4" diameter shank slze. Do not
tighten the collet to hold cutters that are undersized.
The result may be a bent collet which wlll not accept
standard cutters. DANGER: Underslzed cutters may
not tighten securely. This could result in cutter
being thrown from tool causing serlous InJury.
DEPTH OF CUT ADJUSTMENTS
We recommend that the cuts be made at a depth not
exceeding 1/8" and that several passes be made to
reach the required depth.
Dlsconnect router from power supply before ad-
lustlng for depth ol cut.
1. Place the router on a f lat surface and loosen the
lock knob (C). See figure 2.
2. Turn the height adjusting knob (A) until tip of
router bit toughes surface.
3. Adjust the indicator knob (B) to "O".

Position the router so that the bit can extend
below the base for desired depth setting.
Turn height adjusting knob slightly past desired
depth setting, then back to the exact setting. The
distance the cutter moves can be read on the
scale. Each mark indicates 1,/64 inch change in
Fig. 2
INSTALLING EYESHIELD
A clear plastic eyeshield is provided f or eye
protection. lt is designed to fit the opening of the
router base just below the adjustment knobs. To
install, squeeze the shield at each end so that the
two tabs fit into the opening, then release.

PR,OPER CARE OF CUTTER,S
Get faster more accurate cutting results by keeping
cutters clean and sharp. Remove any accumulated
pitch and gum from cutters with kerosene.
When sharpening a cutter, sharpen only the inside of
the cutting edge. Never grind the outside diameter.
Be su.re when sharpen.ing the end of a cutter to grind
the clearance angle the same as originally gro-und.
A cutter sharpening kit (cat. # 25169) is available
from Sears Catalog Order or Retail Store.
The operation of any Power Tool can resuli in forclgn objects being

wear galety- glasses or eye shields betore commencing fower tool
