TO START THE ENGINE
Operate the throttle control lever: Push the lever to
'choke' position before starting a cold engine. It should
only be necessary to push the lever to the 'fast' position
before starting a warm engine.
CS012
Operate the engine stop lever: Use one hand to hold the
engine stop lever in the operating position firmly against the
handlebar. To start and operate the engine the engine stop
lever must be held in the operating position. If the engine
stop lever is released the engine will stop.
CS032
Operate the key switch: Stand behind the mower and
maintain a firm hold on the handlebar and the engine stop
lever to prevent the mower from moving. Using your left
hand turn the ignition key clockwise and hold in position to
crank the engine. When the engine starts release the key
and set the throttle to the fast position if initially in the
choke position.
Note: Engine starter motor life is prolonged by using short
CS075
start cycles of several seconds. Cranking the engine for
more than 15 seconds every minute can damage the starter
motor.
If the engine does not start - refer to " Fault finding".
Note: If necessary the engine can be started manually with-
out the use of a key switch.
IMPORTANT:PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE:
Do not operate the ignition key when the engine is run-
ning.
