The display has a backlight, activated after a key press or on an incoming call. It
switches off automatically after 10 seconds. The backlight can be also be switched off
permanently (see 9.1.8. "Backlighting").
The following table describes the icons that appear in the display.
SYMBOL
ON
Handset is in range of
the iS3000 system.
New message
received. This can be
a voice mail or text
message.
Handset is off-hook.
User can go to the
next line or step.
User can go back to
the previous line or
step.

Keys
The numerical keys can be used to dial numbers or edit entries, in for example the
telephone book. The following characters can be entered by repeatedly pressing the
respective numerical keys. The entry position is automatically advanced after you
enter a new character or if, for a short while, no character is entered. Pressing the *
key switches between capitals and non-capitals.

FLASHING
It is not possible to
make or receive
messages or phone
calls. Or channel
temporarily not
available.
Message memory
full.
Handset is dialling a
number.
OFF
Handset is out of range
of the iS3000 system.
No message, or all
messages have been
read.
Handset is on-hook.
There is no next line or
step to go to.

or step to go to.
