  • Page 2 When unpacking, verify that you have received the scanner, Installation CD containing the software installer and this manual, a USB cable, calibration cards, and cleaning paper. If any components are missing, contact COMPanion by calling 1-800-347-6439 or 1-800-347-4942. Prior to connecting the scanner to your computer you must install the software and driver from the CD included with your scanner.

    Image 2 Click Next to continue from the welcome screen (Image 2). After reviewing the End User License Agreement, click Yes to accept the terms stated within and proceed (Image 3). If you select No, you will be unable to continue with the installation, and the Drivers License Scanner will not be installed on your computer.

    Next, select a destination directory on your computer where you wish to install the Drivers License Scanner files. If you wish to install to a path other than the default shown click Browse… and select another location. COMPanion Corporation recommends installing to the default directory.
  • Page 5 NOTE: THE DRIVER COMPONENT IS SEPARATED INTO SUB-PACKAGES FOR THE TWO SCANNER MODELS WE CURRENTLY SUPPORT, THE SCANSHELL 800 AND SNAPSHELL IDR. HIGHLIGHTING THE DRIVERS OPTION IN THE SELECT COMPONENTS WINDOW WILL OFFER MORE DETAIL. CLICKING THE DETAILS BUTTON WILL OPEN A SEPARATE WINDOW AND ALLOW YOU TO SELECT ONLY THE DRIVERS FOR THE MODEL OF SCANNER YOU HAVE (IMAGES 6 AND 7).

  • Page 7 Once you have successfully completed the installation process, you are ready to connect your hardware and configure it for use. Begin by connecting the “D” shaped end of the provided USB cable to the ScanShell 800 and the other end to an available USB port on your computer.

  • Page 9 Using the Drivers License Scanner with KeepnTrack Once both the Drivers License Scanner Browser Plug-In and Drivers have been installed, you may begin using the scanner with KeepnTrack. Begin by logging into the Administration component of KeepnTrack at your Kiosk Station.

  • Page 11 Once calibration has finished, click OK (Image 21). Image 21 NOTE: FROM TIME TO TIME THE SCANSHELL 800 MAY REQUIRE MAINTENANCE OR CLEANING. AN AUTHORIZED OPERATOR MAY RETURN TO THESE CONTROLS WHENEVER NECESSARY TO INITIATE THE CALIBRATION OR CLEANING PROCESS.

  • Page 15 Image 26 Visitors or other people who do not require further review may then select an activity and print a badge if required (Image 26). The badge will display the visitor’s full name, picture ID, activity and the date and time of their visit. Additional Settings for the Drivers License Scanner KeepnTrack has several settings available which allow you to further customize how the ID scanner performs at your facility.
