POWER SUPPLY

AC Power (AC adaptor)
Plug one end of the AC adaptor into the DC 4.5V socket, then
plug the other end into an AC outlet.
Note:
-
The installed batteries are automatically disconnected when
the AC adaptor is connected to the unit.
-
The unit is not completely disconnected from the mains
z
when the
/ON button is set to the z position.
Clock backup batteries
Install two "AA/SUM-3/R6" batteries (not supplied) as shown in
Fig. 2. The clock function will be retained even if the power
should fail or the "D/SUM-1/R20" batteries should run down.
The life of backup batteries will shorten if the AC adaptor is
disconnected or the "D/SUM-1/R20" batteries are removed from
the unit for a long time.

Installing batteries
Install two "D/SUM-1/R20" batteries (not supplied) as shown in
Fig. 2.

Cautions on batteries
To prevent battery electrolyte leakage, which may result in injury
and damage to the unit or other objects, observe the following
precautions:
1. All batteries must be installed with the proper polarity (see
diagramme on the rear of the unit).
2. Do not mix new with old or used batteries.
3. Only use batteries of the same type and brand.
4. Remove the batteries when they are not to be used for a long
period time.
5. When the batteries have become discharged, they must be
disposed of in a safe manner which complies with all
applicable laws.

CONNECTIONS
Auxiliary equipment
Connect audio leads (not supplied) from the line input sockets
of an auxiliary equipment (amplifier, stereo audio system, etc.)
to the LINE OUT sockets.
Digital equipment
The DIGITAL OUT OPTICAL socket (optical) can be connected
directly to the digital equipment (amplifier, MD recorder, etc.)
which has an optical input socket. Before connecting, remove
the cap on this socket.
Note:

A sampling frequency from the DIGITAL OUT OPTICAL
socket is 48 kHz or 32 kHz. Use the digital equipment
corresponding to the sampling frequency.

A time lag may occur in a sound reproduced from the
DIGITAL OUT OPTICAL socket and LINE OUT sockets (or
speaker).

First, select the station to be recorded when recording to the
MD recorder or DAT through the DIGITAL OUT OPTICAL
socket. When changing the receiving station during
recording, set the MD recorder or DAT to the record-pause
or stop mode. Then re-start recording.
Headphones
Connect stereo headphones (not supplied) to the HEADPHONE
socket for listening in stereo sound. The speaker is automatically
disconnected when headphones are connected.
EXT socket
This is expansion socket for the future.
To attach the shoulder belt (See Fig. 3)
