2. Use one of these methods:
Tap the contact you want to call and then tap
Depending on your motion settings, you may also automatically call the displayed
contact, simply by lifting the phone to your ear. See
Drag your finger from left to right across the contact to call their default number.
Tip: You can also swipe the entry from right to left to send a text message.

Call a Number in a Text Message

While viewing a text message, you can place a call to a number that is in the body of the
message. For more information, see
1. Press
and tap
2. Open the message with the phone number and then tap the phone number.
3. Tap
to dial the number.
Tip: You can also call the number from a text or MMS message you received. Tap the name at
the top of the conversation and then tap a phone number.

Call a Number in an Email Message

While viewing an email or Gmail message, you can place a call to a number that is in the body
of the message.
1. Press
and tap
2. Open the message with the phone number and then tap the phone number.
3. The Phone app opens, displaying the phone number, ready for dialing. Tap
the call.

Call Emergency Numbers

You can place calls to 911 even if the phone's screen is locked or your account is restricted.
The procedure is the same, whether accessing the Phone app from the Lock screen, or from an
unlocked Home screen.
