Installing and removing drives
The PC casing can accommodate a total of five drives:
●
three accessible drives
(two 5 1/4 inch drives and one 3 1/2 inch drive)
●
two non-accessible drives
(both 3 1/2 inch drives with half installation height)
"Accessible drives" are e.g. DVD or CD ROM drives, into which a data carrier can be inserted from
outside. Non-accessible drives are e.g. hard disk drives.
IDE drives
Four IDE drives are supported as standard equipment. Ideally, hard disks are connected to IDE
interface 1 and other drives (e.g. CD ROM drive) to IDE interface 2 (see also the technical manual
for the mainboard).
Installing an accessible drive
►
Open the casing (see "Opening the casing").
►
Remove the screws (1) and take the blind insert out of the casing (2).
Do not dispose of the blind insert. For cooling, protection against fire and in order to
i
comply with EMC regulations, you must refit the blind insert if you remove the drive later.
►
Take the new drive out of its packaging.
