The puncture attachment (see Fig. 5.) is recommended for use with catheters and large
diameter needles from 1.2 mm and up to 3.6 mm. It comprises an attachment lock screw, a
needle guide, a needle-guide lock screw and a variable diameter holder for needles (1.2mm
or 18 Gauge) and large bore needles (3.6mm or 9 Gauge). The guide channel is angled at 18°
to the transducer's image axis.
The distance from the guide channel entrance of the puncture attachment to the first dot on
the scan image puncture line is 65 mm for the 8553. The distance between the dots is 10mm.
These distances are the same as the UA0940, see Fig. 6. for details.
All parts of the puncture attachment can be disinfected by immersion, or can be autoclaved.
