Hardware Options Installation
CAUTION: If installing only one processor in the server blade, be sure to install a
processor blank in processor socket 2.

Hard Drives

Install up to two hard drives in the drive cage assembly included with HP ProLiant
BL30p server blades. The primary drive is located in the bottom bay of the hard drive
cage and the secondary drive is located in the top bay of the hard drive cage.
IMPORTANT: Always populate hard drive bays starting with the primary drive (bottom).
For information on accessing internal server blade components, refer to Chapter 3,
"Server Blade Setup."

Preparing the Server Blade for Hard Drive Installation

NOTE: If you are performing an initial installation, refer to "Installing Hard Drives."
If you are installing a second hard drive in a server blade that is powered on, begin
with the following steps:
1. Back up all server blade data.
2. Power down the server blade. Refer to "Powering Down the Server Blade" in
Chapter 2, "Server Blade Operations" for the complete power down procedure.
3. Remove the server blade from the server blade enclosure. Refer to "Removing a
ProLiant BL30p Server Blade" in Chapter 3 for the complete procedure.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the ProLiant BL30p blade sleeve from the server blade
enclosure.
