Possible cause
The camera cannot find a
focus because you are
too close to the subject.
The camera cannot find a
focus because the subject
does not provide enough
contrast for the Auto
Focus system.
Solution
The camera's Auto Focus range is 30 cm (11.8 in.) to
infinity and focuses on the object in the center of the
frame. Make sure you are not too close to the subject
and that you have placed the subject in the middle of the
frame.
Try a different angle or change the lighting on your
subject. You can also try setting the camera's Auto Focus
using a different subject. First, frame a subject that is the
same distance from the lens as your desired subject and
has the same lighting conditions, then press the shutter
button 1/2 way down. Next, keeping the shutter
button pressed 1/2 way down, frame your desired
subject and then press the shutter button all the way
down.
