OWNER’S MANUAL PREFACE Fi r st of al l , we woul d l i k e to congratul a te wi t h you for your choi c e of our Si n foni Tempo ampl i f i e r. I f you are readi n g thi s short i n troducti o n i n stead of madl y fl i c k across the pages of thi s handbook l o oki n g for features l i k e the wei g hted noi s e or the T.I .
PREFACE HIGH CURRENT Thi s ampl i f i e r has been devel o ped fol l o wi n g the rul e s of the hi g h current ampl i f i e rs. These types of ampl i f i e rs are proj e cted to work on reduced and mul t i p l e -l o ad i m pedances. They woul d seem to have a hi g her cost i f compared wi t h tradi t i o nal (Hi g h Vol t age) ampl i f i e rs, but i t ’s i m portant to not be mi s l e d by the performance as decl a red at 4Ω. These ampl i f i e rs can easi l y doubl e the output power, both, i n stereo and i n bri d ged mode, by hal v i n g the i m pedance l o ad (l o ok at pi c ture 1 for a vi s ual i l l u strati o n). Ohm’s Law, the...

PREFACE MIDBASS AND SUB Thi s ampl i f i e r fol l o ws the phi l o sophy of the Si n foni sound. To be a hi g h current ampl i f i e r means to have a l o t of energy resources to dri v e very di f fi c ul t l o ads and everyone knows that the most energy- consumi n g systems are that ones that make an i n tense use of mi d bass and sub frequenci e s. Therefore we can say that thi s ampl i f i e r can be very useful when worki n g wi t h such systems. Thi s doesn’t mean that i t onl y can be used for subwoofers, as shown on the pages of thi s handbook, i n fact thi s ampl i f i e r can...

FEATURES SUBSONIC + PHASE SHIFTING I t ’s i m possi b l e for the human ear to be aware of frequenci e s bel o w 20Hz, but despi t e of thi s fact ampl i f i e rs usual l y reproduce these very l o w frequenci e s, consumi n g so amounts of preci o us energy. By si m pl y acti v ati n g the subsoni c fi l t er feature, the ampl i f i e r wi l l excl u de al l frequenci e s bel o w 25Hz. For that purpose a hi g h pass, 18dB/octave at 25 Hz, fi l t er i s used. Thi s feature i s al s o hel p ful when usi n g smal l e r woofers that are not abl e to reproduce l o wer frequenci e s.

FEATURES BUILT IN CROSSOVER Thi s ampl i f i e r i s equi p ped wi t h a bui l t -i n Low Pass Cross-Over, very easy to swi t ch on and off by pushi n g the button on the front panel . Once the cross-over i s acti v ated, the cut-off frequency can be regul a ted, from 40 to 150 Hz, through the proper potenti o meter. Mutl i - ampl i f i e d system i n stal l a ti o ns are now so much easi e r to i m pl e ment.

FEATURES TRIMODE I n order to al l o w a si m ul t aneous Stereo-Mono connecti o n, the most car ampl i f i e rs make use of the Tri m ode capabi l i t y, whi c h offers the possi b i l i t y to connect a Subwoofer, i n bri d ged mode, to a stereo system. I n order to accompl i s h thi s , the Ri g ht i n put channel i s i n versed by 180°. By swi t chi n g Off the Tri m ode modus, the rotati o n of the Ri g ht i n put does not happen, therefore the l e ft and ri g ht channel s are now i n phase wi t h each other, rather than bei n g 180° out of phase wi t h each other.

FEATURES MONO The most common reason to use a monophoni c i n put i s to use the ampl i f i e r i n a bri d ged con- fi g urati o n, but as you wi l l di s cover on thi s handbook, not the onl y one. Thanks to thi s feature, i n stead of usi n g a Y cabl e , you can connect onl y the L i n put to your source. Thi s wi l l al l o w you the advantage to have a si n gl e i n put for both channel s , si n ce when usi n g a Y cabl e i t ’s not easy to tri m each i n put l e vel to the same poi n t. A mono i n put can al s o be very useful when worki n g wi t h bi - wi r i n g, as exampl e for passi v e mul t i - ampl i f i c ati o n confi g urati o ns.
OWNER’S MANUAL INSTALLATION The Si n foni car ampl i f i e rs are desi g ned to work wi t h a 12V DC power suppl y , however the vol t age can range from between 11V and 14.5V. Power Suppl y cabl e s must be of a sui t abl e gauge, keepi n g i n mi n d that the negati v e one must be connected to the ground i n the nearest poi n t of the car chassi s , whi l e the posi t i v e one must come di r ectl y from the battery. I f the di s tance from the battery to the apparatus i s qui t e l o ng, then i t wi l l be necessary to use thi c ker cabl e s, i n order to avoi d any performance l o ss: we suggest your i n stal l e r to use at l e ast good qual i t y AWG8 Oxygen Free Copper cabl e s. INSTALLATION ADVICE I n the fol l o wi n g pages you can fi n d several confi g urati o n exampl e s to show possi b l e i n stal l a ti o ns usi n g thi s ampl i f i e r. These are onl y a few combi n ati o ns to expl a i n the features of thi s ampl i f i e r and to better i l l u strate the use of functi o ns l i k e TRI M ODE and MONO. Pl e ase noti c e the wi r i n g of the speakers i n the di f ferent TRI M ODE statuses, i t i s very i m portant to understand the techni c al di f ferences between TRI M ODE ON and TRI M ODE OFF, si n ce a wrong wi r i n g can affect the qual i t y of the i n stal l a ti o n. INSTALLATION INPUTS The i n put l o ad i s 48KΩ, and i t s sensi t i v i t y i s adj u stabl e from 400mV peak - peak (150mV RMS) to 8V peak - peak (2.8V RMS); therefore i t perfectl y matches any source, i n cl u di n g those that provi d e a 4V pre out (1.4V RMS). The regul a ti o n i s achi e ved rotati n g the i n put R and L potenti o meters wi t h a common screwdri v er. Remember that when i n MONO mode you onl y need to connect the L i n put to the source.
