If the Schlage BE365 handle turns without controlling the deadbolt after replacing the battery, the lock may be malfunctioning. You can try the following steps:
1. Check Installation – Ensure the inside components are correctly installed. 2. Factory Reset – Perform a reset by: - Disconnecting the battery. - Pressing the Schlage button. - Reconnecting the battery while holding the Schlage button until it lights green and beeps. 3. Emergency Lock Override – If the issue persists, enable the emergency override: - Remove screws and the thumbturn assembly. - Disconnect and remove the battery. - Use a screwdriver to rotate the slot inside.
If the problem continues, refer to the manual for troubleshooting or consider replacing the lock.

No, the Schlage BE365 lock comes preset with two unique default User Codes. You can use these default codes to unlock the lock initially. You do not need to enter and change them unless you prefer to use your own custom codes.

The Schlage BE365 lock may unlock without using a code because the internal mechanism is not staying engaged after locking. This could be due to a mechanical failure, misalignment, or worn internal parts. Pressing the Schlage button is supposed to engage the lock for code entry, but if the bolt disengages freely without requiring a code, it indicates the locking mechanism is not functioning correctly. This may require disassembly and inspection of the internal components or replacing worn parts.
