The use of these levels in descending order of
priority will ensure that appropriate alarm signals
and messages are provided first to the zones
immediately at risk.
4.3.2 Operational priorities
If the voice alarm system is capable of operation
in fully automatic mode, a facility shall always be
available to control:

Means shall be provided for manual intervention
to override any automatically programmed
functions. This shall apply both to the nature of
the message being broadcast and to the
distribution paths of the message. Thus, manual
controls shall be provided at the central control
point (and also at specified remote control
points) to allow:

Evacuate - potentially life-threatening
situation needing immediate evacuation.
Alert - dangerous situation nearby requiring
warning of pending evacuation.
Non-emergency - operational messages, e.g.

occupants via the emergency microphone (if
