LASER SHUTDOWN
Meaning
The laser-module protection circuit has been activated.
Cause
Once the temperature inside the unit rose up to the upper
limit, the laser-module protection circuit was activated.
Countermeasures
Turn off power to the camera and the adapter and let them
sit until the internal temperature sufficiently drops. Normal
operation will be resumed when you reapply power.
If normal operation is not resumed, the module may be
defective. Consult a Sony service personnel,

Handling the Optical Fiber
Connectors
Transmission errors occur if the connection contacts of the
optical fiber cable get dirty.
Be sure to clean the connection contacts of the optical fiber
cable before use to remove any foreign matter.
When the connectors are not used, keep them covered with
caps.

Cleaning of Connectors/Cable

Before connecting an optical fiber cable to the adapter, it is
recommended to clean the optical contacts on the VTR
connector of the adapter and the optical fiber cable.
The steps for cleaning are described below.
When an optical connector cleaner (sold
separately) is available
Materials required
• Optical connector cleaner (commercially available)
Product name: NTT-ME CLETOP
14100403 or equivalent (stick type)
—Cleaning fluid, cleaning alcohol, or the like are not
necessary during cleaning.
—Each cleaning stick should only be used once.
Cleaning procedure
• Male connector
Clean the optical contact tips (white), using the optical
connector cleaner.
• Female connector

Insert the optical connector cleaner straight into the
connector.
