11. CONCERNING THE USE OF THE BACKUP SERVER
The backup server can be used by checking and enabling the Use Backup Server among the
server options in Section 8-1. When the backup server is used, the clips transferred to the
main server are also transferred to the backup server. Compared with regular transfer sorely
to the main server, it takes double the transfer time to send the target clips to the backup
server after they have been transferred to the main server.
When the backup server is used, one of the following four statuses is established depending
on the operating modes of the main server and backup server and the connection mode of
the network. This status is displayed on Volume View.
Connection is made both the main server and backup server (normal status)
Connection is made to the main server but not to the backup server
Connection is made to the backup server but not to the main server
Connection is made neither to the main server nor to the backup server
If a status other than the normal status shown in Fig. 11-1 is established, an error in one of
the connection setting for the optional main server or backup server, hardware trouble or net-
work trouble may be to blame. Consult with the system administrator.
