Adding
Fuel
Use extremecarewhenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammableand the vaporsare explosive.Neverfuelthe machine
indoors or whilethe engineishot or running.Extinguishcigarettes,
cigars,pipesand othersourcesof ignition.
1.
Be sureengineisoutdoorsandin a well-ventilated area.
2.
Cleanareaaroundthefuelfiilcap and remove the fuelfillcap.
3.
Usingan approvedredGASOLINE container,addfuel slowly, b eing
carefulto avoidspilling.
4.
Fillthetank untilthefuel reaches the"fuel full"indicator mark.See
Figure10.

Replacethefuelcapand tightensecurely. W ipeup spilledfuel
beforestartingengine.If fuel isspilledDONOTstartengine.Move
machineawayfromarea of spillage. A voidcreatinganysourceof
ignition untilfuelvaporsaregone.
ADJUSTMENTS
Clutch Cable
Checkthe adjustment o f theclutchcable as follows:
1.
Positionthe tillerso the front counterweight i sagainsta solid
object,such as a wall.
2.
With the gear selectionleverin NEUTRAL, s tart the engine.Refer
to Startingthe Enginein the Operationsection.
3.
Standingon the rightside ofthe tiller, examinethe belt (insidethe
beltcover).It shouldnot be turning.
4.
If the belt turnswithouttheclutchcontrol engaged,unthread
the upper nutand adjust it by unthreadinglowernuta few turns
clockwise(whenstandingin the operator'sposition)and then
retightenthe uppernut againstthecable bracket.See Figure11.

Nowmovethe shift leverto the FORWARD position.
6.
Carefullyengagethe clutchby squeezing clutchleveragainstthe
handle.Thewheelsshouldspin.
7.
If the wheelsdo notspin with thetiller in forward,loosenthe
uppernut and adjustby tighteningthecable a fewturns counter-
clockwise(whenstandingin the operator'sposition)and then
retightenthe uppernut againstcablebracket.See Figure9.
8.
Recheckbothadjustments, a nd readjustas necessary.
9.
After tilling, if the tines stop moving,re-adjustthe cables.
NOTE:A secondarycableadjustmentis availableif you reachthe
pointthat additional a djustmentis needed.Seethe Serviceand
Maintenance sectionfor secondaryadjustmentinstructions.
