7. Carefully remove the new chain
from the package. Hold c hain w ith

clutch, fitting t he drive l inks i nthe
ctutch drum sprocket.
9. Fit t he bottom ofthe drive l inks b e-
tween the teeth i nthe sprocket in
the nose o fthe guide b ar.
10. F it c hain d rive l inks i nto bar
groove.
11. P ull guide b ar f orward until the
chain i ssnug inthe guide b ar
groove. Ensure all d rive links a re
inthe bar g roove.
12. I nstall the chain b rake,
13. I nstall chain b rake n uts; finger
tighten only. D onot t ighten any
further atthis point. Proceed to
CHAIN ADJUSTMENT.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
_lJWARNING: The chain w ilt b emov-
ing during most ofthis procedure. Wear
your protective equipment and observe
all s afety precautions. During the low
speed m ixture adjustment recheck idle
speed after each t urn o fthe screw. The
chain m ust not m ove a tidle speed.
Carburetor adjustment iscritical and if
done i mproperly can permanently
damage the engine asweti asthe car-

this procedure, call o ur c ustomer as-

Old fuel. a dirty air f ilter, dirty fuel filter,
orflooding may give the impression of
animproperly adjusted carburetor.
Check these c onditions before adjust-
ing the carburetor.
The carburetor has been c arefully set
atthe factory. Adjustments may be
necessary ifyounotice any ofthe fol-
lowing conditions:
• Chain m oves atidle. See IDLE
SPEED-T under adjusting procedure.
• Saw wilt n ot i dle. See IDLE S PEED-T
and LOW SPEED MIXTURE-L under
adjusting procedure.
• Engine dies o rhesitates when i t
should accelerate. See ACCELERA-
TION C HECK under adjusting
procedure.
• Loss o fcutting power. See HIGH
SPEED MiXTURE-H under adjusting
procedure.
There a re three a djustment screws on
the carburetor. They a relabeled H,L,
and T,
ADJUSTING PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Donot f orce plastic limiter
caps o nscrews beyond thebuilt-in
stops o rdamage witt o ccur.
Initial Setting8
1. Turn both mixture screws (L and H)
counterclockwise until they stop.
2. Turn the idle speed screw (T)
clockwise until it stops. Then turn it
counterclockwise 4-1/2 turns.
3. Start engine and let it run for 3 min-
utes. then proceed to adjust
screws according to the following
instructions, tf engine performance
at initial settings is acceptable, no
further adjustments are necessary.
If engine does not start, refer to the
TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE. tf still
unable to remedy situation, call
1-800-235-5878.
Idle Speed-T
Allow engine to idle. If the chain
moves, idle is too fast. tf the engine
stalls, idle is too slow. Adjust speed
until engine runs without chain move-
