The keys sound very clunky when swtched off and noticeable when playing. Can this be fixed or should I get another keyboard?

The clunky sound of the keys on a Casio CDP-120 appears to be a common issue. Some users have suggested that the felt cushioning inside the keyboard may not be doing an adequate job, and adding cloth on top of the felt could help reduce noise. If you are comfortable opening the case and making modifications, this might be a potential fix. However, if the noise is too bothersome and performance is affected, upgrading to a better keyboard may be a more reliable solution.

To replace the power jack on a Casio CDP-120, follow these steps:

1. Unplug the Keyboard – Disconnect the AC adapter and any other cables.
2. Disassemble the Keyboard – Remove the screws on the back panel and carefully open the casing.
3. Locate the Power Jack – The power jack is a 12V DC input, found on the main PCB.
4. Desolder the Old Jack – Use a soldering iron to remove the existing power jack from the PCB.
5. Install the New Jack – Align the new power jack with the PCB and solder it securely in place.
6. Reassemble the Keyboard – Close the casing and tighten the screws.
7. Test the Power – Plug in the adapter and check if the keyboard powers on.

Ensure proper soldering to avoid loose connections.
