To change the battery on a HYOSUNG COMET 125, follow these steps:

1. Check for Damage: Inspect the battery container. If there are cracks or electrolyte leaks, replace the battery.

2. Clean Terminals: If terminals are rusty or have a white powdery substance, clean them using sandpaper.

3. Remove Old Battery:
- Disconnect the battery terminals.
- Carefully remove the battery from its compartment.

4. Install New Battery:
- Fill the new battery with electrolyte as required.
- Tap the bottom two or three times to remove air bubbles.
- Remove empty electrolyte containers slowly to avoid vapor release.
- Insert caps firmly into the filler holes so they are flush with the battery top.

5. Check Voltage:
- Measure voltage with a pocket tester.
- If below 12.0V DC, recharge the battery.

6. Reconnect: Connect the battery terminals, ensuring correct polarity.

7. Check Charging System:
- Start the engine and run at 5,000 rpm.
- Measure DC voltage at the battery; it should be between 14.0–15.0V.
- If not, check the magneto and regulator/rectifier.

Replace the battery if it's sulfated, has been unused in cold climate, or cannot hold charge.
