4. USE WITH COLD WATER
To use an ice bath, follow these steps:
1. Fill the bathtub with cold water. The ideal water temperature is 0 to 15 degrees Celsius. It is important
to make sure that the water temperature is correct. You can use a bath thermometer to do this.
2. Add ice to the bath so that the water cools down more quickly.
3. Before getting into the bath, it is advisable to warm up your body with some exercise. This will help
to reduce the feeling of cold.
4. Once you are in the tub, stay in for 10-15 minutes. If you are a beginner, you can start with a shorter
time and gradually increase the time as you get used to the cold.
5. If you feel very cold, you can get out of the tub for a few minutes and then get back in.
6. After getting out of the tub, it is important to hydrate and warm up your body gradually.
You can adjust the temperature of the ice bath by adding or reducing the amount of ice according to your
preference and comfort level.
The exact amount of ice you will need to fill a 350 litre ice pool will depend on several factors, including the
initial water temperature, the ambient temperature, and the temperature of the ice you are using.
Cube or block ice: If you are using cubed or block ice, you may need several kilograms. For example,
you may need at least 20-30 kg of ice to start cooling a 350 litre pool. However, you will probably
need to add more ice as the water warms up.
Crushed or crushed ice: If you are using crushed or crushed ice, the amount needed may be less by
weight, as crushed ice has a larger contact surface. Approximately, you may need between 10 and
20 kg to start with.
It is recommended to stay in an ice bath for 10-15 minutes. This duration is sufficient for the cold to bring
about a number of health benefits, such as reducing inflammation, pain and stress, as well as improving
athletic performance.
However, if the person is a beginner, it is advisable to start with a shorter time, 5-10 minutes, and gradually
increase the time as the person gets used to the cold.
On the other hand, if the aim of the bath is to reduce inflammation and soreness after an intense workout,
you can stay in the ice bath for a longer time, 20-30 minutes.
