6. CURRENT POSITION DETECTION FUNCTION
6.1 Current Position Value
● Sensor binary value (Address 2 and 3 of the buffer memory)
This value is counted inside of VS-QA62 when the ABSOCODER sensor shaft rotates.
It changed from 0 to 131071 (0 to 1FFFFH) when the shaft rotates from 0 to the 'total number of turns'.
The 'total number of turns' is decided based on the sensor model.
Ex: MRE-32SS062, The 'total number of turns' is 32.
● Scaling binary value (Address 0 and 1 of the buffer memory)
The value is converted into a unit such as mm or inch based on the sensor binary value by setting the scale length
and minimum current position value. This value indicates the machine's current position.
The value would be stored as two's complement if this value is 'negative value'.
Scaling binary value =
<Example>
In the following condition, the following figure indicates the relation between the sensor binary and scaling
binary value.
Condition
- Sensor: MRE-32SS062
- Scale length: 32000 (Detection range: 320.00mm)
- Minimum current position value: -1000 (Minimum value: -10.00mm)
- Machine's current position: 150.00mm
Scaling binary value=-1000
Minimum position = -10mm
Minimum current position value = -1000
Sensor binary value = 0
Point
Both the sensor binary value and the scaling binary value can be changed as your desired value
by using the initial setting function or the current position 'PRESET' function.
Scale length
× Sensor binary value + Minimum current position value
131072
The scaling binary value at the 150 mm position will be as follows:
Scaling binary value =
Detection range = 320 mm
Scale length = 32000
Scaling binary value=30999
150mm
Maximum position = 309.99 mm
Sensor binary value =131071
65536
Sensor binary value
32000
× 65536 – 1000
131072
= 15000
