    Replacing the tip To remove your tip (Foam Sleeve, Open Fit, or Closed Dome) currently affixed to your hearing aid, hold the speaker shell securely between your index finger and thumb and grasp the tip, giving it a quarter turn/twist while gently pulling away from the speaker shell.
  • Page 10 Selecting a link The link for your hearing aid should have been previously chosen for you by your Zounds Hearing Consultant. For your reference, your hearing aid links have markings on the speaker shell to indicate style and size for you and the Zounds Hearing Consultant.
  • Page 11 • Replacement tips can be purchased from a Zounds Hearing Center, Zounds Hearing Consultant, or ZoundsHearing.com. • Wearing hearing aids with foam, open or closed dome tips may take some adjustment. See a Zounds Hearing Consultant if you wish to try another tip size.

    Inserting hearing aid in your ear Check to see if the hearing aid already has a tip attached. If not, do not place hearing aid in ear. Ensure that you are using the proper left and right hearing aids. Your hearing aids are identified as follows: = Right hearing aid = Left hearing aid red dot...
  • Page 14 Squeeze the tip with your thumb and fingers several times in different locations. The tip will momentarily be smaller in diameter. Holding the speaker shell between your thumb and forefinger with the reduced size foam in place, insert the foam into the ear canal. Hold the speaker and foam in place for about 5 seconds which allow the foam to expand to the size and shape of your ear canal.
  • Page 15 Warnings: • Do not insert the hearing aid if you think you may have a foreign object in the ear canal. • The hearing aid and tips are made of modern non-allergenic materials. Still, in rare cases, skin irritation can occur. If you experience discomfort or skin irritation in the ear or in the ear canal, discontinue use, and contact your Physician immediately.
  • Page 16 • Pull tip and speaker shell straight out of ear by grasping the reinforced tube. Do not twist out of ear. • Zounds tips are designed to securely attach to the speaker shell while inserting and removing the hearing aid from the ear canal.

    This switch should remain in the “On” position when in use. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to conserve battery life, switch your Riazo to the off postion (Upwards) until you need to use your hearing aid again.

    Managing your battery and battery door Your battery door is located at the bottom of your Riazo BTE hearing aid. To open, place your fingernail in the notch and with a gentle downward motion, your hearing aid battery door should become ajar. When fully opened, the battery door should extend to a full 90 degrees or just perpendicular to the hearing aid shell.
  • Page 19 Important tips: • Do not use force when opening or closing your battery door. • Only use P675 zinc air disposable batteries • When hearing aid is not in use, leave the battery door open so battery can air dry. Wipe the surface of the battery with a soft cloth, this will help extend the life of the battery.
  • Page 20 Warnings: • If your battery door becomes loose or disconnected from the hearing aid shell, please seek assistance at your nearest Zounds Hearing Center. • If battery is discharged, remove battery from hearing aid. • Never put a battery in your mouth as they could be swallowed.

    Warnings Warning to Hearing Aid Dispensers A hearing aid dispenser should advise a prospective hearing aid user to consult promptly with a licensed Physician before dispensing a hearing aid if the hearing aid dispenser determines through inquiry, actual observation, or review of any other available information concerning the prospective user, that the prospective user has any of the following conditions: •...
  • Page 30 • Acute or chronic dizziness. • Unilateral hearing loss of sudden or recent onset within the previous 90 days. • Audiometric air-bone gap equal to or greater than 15 decibels at 500 hertz (Hz), 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz. • Visible evidence of significant cerumen accumulation or a foreign body in the ear canal.
  • Page 31 Important Notice for Prospective Hearing Aid Users Good health practice requires that a person with a hearing loss have a medical evaluation by a licensed Physician before purchasing a hearing aid. The purpose of medical evaluation is to assure that all medically treatable conditions that may affect hearing are identified and treated before the hearing aid is purchased.
  • Page 32 Federal law restricts the sale of hearing aids to those individuals who have obtained a medical evaluation from a licensed Physician. Federal law permits a fully informed adult to sign a waiver statement declining the medical evaluation for religious or personal beliefs that preclude consultation with a physician.
  • Page 33 Other Warnings • Do not use your hearing aid in potentially explosive environments. • Do not open the hearing aid. Opening the product will void the manufacturer warranty. • Do not dispose of the hearing aid in fire, as the battery may explode.
