Precautions for Recording

To ensure the highest performance from the unit, keep
the heads, the capstans and the pinch rollers complete-
ly clean.

Before recording, always check the side and direction of the tape to be recorded on.
The front side is recorded on when the green [FWD] indicator is on.
The rear side is recorded on when the green [REV] indicator is on.
. The ''METAL/CrO2"' position of the tape selector is for playback only and the position
of the selector has no effect on the sound being recorded. Always use normal (fertic)
tape for recording.
. lf the erasure-prevention tabs have been removed from a cassette, it cannot be used
for recording unless the slots are covered with a small piece of sticky tape.
. When the recording is stopped, press the [REC] and [PLAY] buttons again the tape will
continue in the same direction.
. The built-in Dolby NR (noise reduction) system is for playback only and cannot be used
for recording. The setting of the { 00 /BEAT] switch has no effect on the sound being
recorded.
. When using a cassette tape that has one of the erasure-prevention tabs broken out,
if you only want to record one side of the tape, place face up the side which goes together
with the unbroken tab. Please record after checking that the [FWD] indicator lights in
green.
Care and Maintenance
Fully open the cassette housing lid.
Moisten a cotton bud with denatured alcohol.
Gently wipe the heads and capstans. Only wipe the
head surfaces in the two directions the tape moves
over them, being careful not to scratch them.
Moisten a cotton bud with special rubber cleaner.
Clean the pinch rollers with the bud.
= Cleaning the Casing
Wipe the housing with a soft, dry cloth. If dirt remains, use a soft cloth moistened with
water and then a dry cloth.
Caution:
Never use solvents such as alcohol, benzene or paint thinner as this may de-
form or discolor the casing.
