The door of the Miele W 4840 washing machine may be locking and blocking due to several reasons:
1. Child Lock Activation – If the Child Lock is enabled, the door will remain locked until it is deactivated. 2. Power Failure – The washer keeps the door locked during a power failure for safety. You can manually open it using the emergency opener. 3. Water in the Drum – If there is still water inside, the washer will not unlock the door. You need to drain the water by cleaning the drain filter and pump. 4. High Water Temperature – If the wash water temperature is above 130°F (55°C), the door will stay locked to prevent scalding. 5. Blocked Drain – If the drain is blocked, the washer may not be able to remove water, keeping the door locked for safety.
To manually open the door, ensure the drum has stopped turning, pull out the detergent drawer, use the emergency opener tool, and drain any remaining water.
