TROUBLESHOOTING
I can't get my phone to play music on the VAIL Cast.
If you are a first time user and have found the VAIL Cast installed in your apartment, Airbnb or hotel
please read the steps found here: VAIL Cast Apartment and Hotel Users
I'm following the instructions on connecting to Wi-Fi via my iPhone, but don't see the VAIL Cast as
an Airplay Speaker.
It sometimes takes a while for this to appear on the menu. Be patient and scroll down. You may
need to close it and open it again. This is an issue outside of our control and related to the iPhone
and Airplay.
I'm having trouble connecting using Apple Home.
If you have a Wi-Fi network with both 2G and 5G connections and are setting up using your iPhone or
iPad, make sure you are connected via 5G when doing setup. This may be the issue.
I'm trying to connect via Google Home but I'm getting an AP (Access Point) Isolation notice.
This is related to your router and not a function of VAIL Cast. You will have to disable the AP on your
router to connect the VAIL Cast Chromecast functions.
The RED Cast light is flashing on the front of the VAIL Cast, and I can't play anything.
This happens when the VAIL Cast has lost the Wi-Fi connection to your router. This unfortunately
sometimes happens with a variety of streaming devices and is a router issue. Performing a soft reset
on the VAIL Cast often solves this issue. To do this press all three buttons on the front for 3 seconds.
All the front lights should pulse. Once they stop it is reset. You may also choose to unplug the VAIL
Cast power from the outlet or back of the unit and plug it in again. This will also reset it.
I'm hearing odd sounds or popping noises when playing the TV audio through the optical output.
These noises are likely occurring as the VAIL Cast is receiving multi-channel audio from the TV. It
must only receive PCM input. Make sure the audio output on the TV is set to PCM. On some TVs it
may also be necessary to change the INPUT settings on the TV to PCM if an external device is
connected, such as streaming player or satellite box. Even if the output is set to PCM, some TVs will
pass through source inputs "as is". You may need to consult your TV manual to find the settings.
I'm following the instructions to program the IR into the VAIL Cast, but it is still not working.
• Make sure you have the IR Receiver that came with the VAIL Cast firmly plugged in. Note that
it requires a 3V IR receiver and most other IR receivers will not work.
• You may need to press the buttons on the TV repeatedly, more times than three. This is okay
and sometimes needed as some remote function differently.
