VIZIO Universal Remote Control User Guide 2.2 - Insertion of Batteries in the Remote Control Insert two AA batteries into the remote control. Make sure that you match the (+) and (-) symbols on the batteries with the (+) and (-) symbols inside the battery compartment.
If the batteries are low or exhausted, replace them with fresh batteries. • When not using the remote control for a long period of time, remove the batteries. • Do not take apart the batteries, heat them, or throw them into a fire.

3.2 - Searching for Component Codes If the user cannot find the manufacturer in the component list or the program code does not work, the user can use the remote control to search for the correct component code. To search for a component code: Turn on the component.
Since there is not a scan button on the VIZIO Universal Remote Control, you can assign a button and use the remote to teach the remote control the scan function.
Make sure that you have selected the correct component mode. Make sure that the remote is programmed for that component. See “Programming the VIZIO Universal Remote Control” on page Problem: The remote control will not accept the component program code.
