3-14. Identification Markings on
Printed
Circuit Boards.
8-15.
HP printed
circu it
boards (see
Figure
8-1
)
have
four identification
numbers;
an assembly
part number,
a series
number,
a revision
letter,
and a production code.
The
assembly
part num-
ber has
10
dig
its (such
as
05315-60002)
and is
the primary identification. All
assembli
es
with
the
same part
number
are
interchangeable.
When a
production change is
made on an assembly
that
makes it
incompatible
with previous
assemblies,
a
change in part number
is requi
red.
The
series
number
(such
as
1832)
is
used to
document
minor
electrical changes. As changes are made,
the
series number
is
incremented. When replacement
boards are
ordered,
you
may receive a
replacement
with a
different
series number.
If
there
is
a difference
between
the series number
marked on the board
the
schematic
in this
manual,
a
minor
electrica
l
difference
exists.
If
the
number on
the
printed
circuit board
is
lower than
that on the
schematic,
refe
r
to
Section
VII for
backdating information.
If
it
is higher, refer to
the
yellow
looseleaf manua

change
sheets
fo
r
this
manual. If
the manual
change
sheets
are missing, contact
your local HP
Sa les and Service Office.
See the listing on the back cover of
this
manual.
8-16.
Revison
letters
(A, B,
etc.)
de note
changes in printed circuit layout.
For
example,
if
a
capacitor type
is
changed
(e
lectrical
va
lu
e may
remain the
same)
and requires
diffe rent
spacing
for its
leads,
the printed circuit board layout
is changed
and
the revis
ion
letter
is
incre
ment ed
to
the next
letter. When
a
revision letter
changes,
the
series
numbe
r is
also
usually changed.
The
production code
is the four-digit,
seven-segme
nt
number used
for
production purposes.
8-17. SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
8-18.
Although
the
5315A/

contains
information, cautions, and warnings which must be
followed
to insure
safe operation and
to
retain the 5315A/8
in
safe operating condition (also
see
Section
II,
III,
V).
Service and adjustments should be performed only by qualified
service
personnel.
WARNING
ANY
INTERRUPTION
OF THE PROTECTIVE (GROUNDING)
CONDUCTOR (INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE 5315A/B) OR DIS-
CONNECTION OF THE PROTECTIVE EARTH TERMINAL
IS
LIKELY TO MAKE THE 5315A/B DANGEROUS.
8-19.
Any
adjustment,
maintenance, and
repair
of
the
opened
5315A/
8 under
voltage
should
be avoided as
much
as possible and,
when inevitab
le, should
be carried
out only
by
a

WARNING
LINE
VOLTAGE
IS EXPOSED
WITHIN
THE
5315A/B
EVEN WHEN
THE POWER SWITCH IS
IN
STBY. REMOVAL OF THE POWER
CORD IS NECESSARY TO FULLY UNPOWER THE 5315A/B.
8-20. Make
sure
that
only fuses with
the
required rated
current and of
the
specified
type
(normal
blow,
time
delay, etc.
)
are
used
for
replace
ment.
The
use
of
repa

must
be avoided. Whenever
it
is
likely
that
this protection has
been
impaired, the 5315A/B
