; BATTERY INSTALLATION
Follow steps 1 to 3 in sequence.
Battery replacement
The OPRIBATT indicator will help you to know the bat-
tery condition.
During operation, the OPR/BATT
indi-
cator lights up. When the batteries are weak, the indica-
tor will glow faintly and playback or recording sound will
become distorted or unstable. In this case, replace both
batteries.
For battery life, see "Specifications" on page 23.
You can also operate the set with an optional ac power
adaptor or an optional car battery cord listed in '"'Specifi-
cations" on page 23.

polarity.

Close the lid.
For extended play, use an optional EBP-500 battery case
1O Operaie the set with two size D batteries (IEC designa-
tion R20).
When the set is not to be used for a long period of time
or is to be operated extensively on other power sources,
remove the batteries to avoid damage caused by battery

leakage and corrosion.
