3-6. Alarm signal

Th e alarm signal is output for approximately 400 ms when the
travel speed of the scale has exceeded the maximum response
speed, when the signal level from the detector head is lower than a
specifi ed value, when the head cable has been severed, or when the
unit malfunctions due to external noise or some other reason. Th e
alarm signal is automatically released aft er approximately 400 ms
if the cause of the alarm is cleared during this time. If alarm status
continues for more than 400 ms, it will be released once the cause
of the alarm has been cleared.
When an alarm is output, the alarm lamp will light and AL output
of the MJ100 will go high and /AL output will go low. PCA, /PCA,
PCB and /PCB output will go high impedance at this time.
AL output of the MJ110 will go high (off ).

Supplying the power

When supplying power, input the following type of power to the
output connector shown in Fig. 3-1.
MJ100
Power supply voltage
DC 4.5 V to 6 V
We recommend use of a power supply which includes a short-
circuit protection circuit: there is up to about 2 A/1 A of inrush
current when the power is turned on with 5 V/12 V input for the
MJ100/110, respectively.
Th e MJ100/110 outputs nothing for approximately 0.4 seconds
aft er power is turned on. Also, when power is turned off , the
MJ100/110 may temporarily output a signal that may cause a
malfunction of the entire system.
To prevent this from happening, be sure that the following power-
on and power-off sequences are used.
Turning on power
1.
Turn on the power of the MJ100/110.
2.
Turn on the receiver's power
Turning off power
1.
Turn off the receiver's power.
2.
Turn off the power of the MJ100/110.
