DVD+ReWritable:
Create Your Own DVD
The DVD+RW video recorder allows
you to make recordings from various sources
- favorite TV programs or your own camcorder
movies - to create your own DVD. Of course, it plays back your
DVD-Video movies as well.
Digital Picture Quality
DVD+RW video recorders make use of
the same Variable Bit Rate (VBR) MPEG2 video encoding as used for
pre-packaged DVD-Video movies, allowing for the same digital quality
levels as DVD-Video discs that people have become familiar with. The one-
hour recording mode is perfect to make a digital copy of your digital
camcorder tapes without any analogue step in between. In the two-hour
recording mode the quality is as good as any pre-recorded DVD while the
three- and four-hour modes ensure any TV program will fit onto the disc in a
picture quality still far superior to VHS.
Digital Sound Quality
Audio is digitally encoded in MPEG
Audio. As a result, the sound quality of a recording, like the picture
quality, is comparable to that of pre-packaged DVD-Video discs.
Two-way Compatibility
DVD-Video is becoming the preferred pre-
recorded video distribution format.Adding recording capabilities to DVD
players will further boost the appeal of the DVD system.
Of course, for long-term success it is essential that both home-recorded and
pre-recorded discs can be played on the same equipment. DVD+RW has
therefore been designed to be two-way compatible with existing and
future DVD-Video and DVD-ROM players:
• DVD+RW video recorders will play DVD-Video discs
• Recordings made with a DVD+RW video recorder can be played
on existing and future DVD-Video players as well as on PCs with
a DVD-ROM drive
DVDR 1000
Only DVD+RW technology provides the unique advantage of this two-way
compatibility. This is one reason why DVD+RW is a major breakthrough in
rewritable DVD technology.
Index Picture Screen
View the entire contents of your disc on your
TV screen. For each disc, you can see what you have recorded and how
much space is available for new recordings. With the push of a button on
the remote control you start playing a recording: no winding or rewinding
and no need for a visual search!
One Touch Recording
You can start recording in an instant.
If you are watching a TV program, all you have to do is press the
OTR button and DVD+RW starts recording automatically.
Favorite Scene Selection
Naturally, the Philips DVD+RW
video is not only about recording. It contains convenient editing facilities,
too.You can select the scenes you want to see and the DVD+RW recorder
will skip the unwanted scenes at your command. The selection you can view
on existing DVD players, too.
Camcorder Connection
Hooking up your camcorder to
the DVD+RW video recorder couldn't be easier. It's ready to
transfer your most precious moments captured with your
camcorder via digital i-Link data transfer.Your favorite
recordings can then be preserved for life - in perfect digital
picture and sound quality.
PC Convergence
Next to the Philips DVD+RW video
recorder DVD+RW PC-drives will be introduced, which will use
the same discs as the DVD+RW video recorder. With the recorder
you can make video edits and with the right software package on
your PC, you can also add video edits, stills, text and sophisticated graphics on
your DVD+RW discs. After editing you can play the disc with your own
production in both the DVD+RW video recorder and your PC.
