Attention to Power or Power Cord Do not hold the DC cable with a wet hand. Do not disconnect/connect the cable while your hands are wet. Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric shock. Do not install the device while the power is turned on. Unplug the AC power cord from the main power source when installing/uninstalling the device to/from server or connect it with the enclosure.

Do not use the unspecified interface cables. Uses only the cable authorized by NEC and locate the device and connector before connection. Use of an unauthorized cable or displaced connection may cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire.

You can refer to the manual whenever you encounter a question or problem during setup and daily operation. How to use this Manual When the Internal LTO is being used for the first time, refer to the instruction manual in the following sequence to perform the setup after unpacking the Internal LTO.
To this end, we strongly recommend that you dispose of all backed up data through your backup software before transferring or selling the unit. Setup The procedure to install the Internal LTO to the systems like Express5800 series is explained. Attach the latching rails Some servers require the latching rails to be used. For details on how to install the latching rails, refer to the server’s operating manual or device expansion unit’s user manual. (Example1) Attach the latching rails as shown in the figure below.
Connecting the Internal LTO to the Server ・Specified SAS cable is used for the Internal LTO connection. Turn off the power before installing or removing the Internal LTO from the server. Always be sure to turn off the main power and unplug the power cord from the AC outlet before installing/removing the Internal LTO or connecting any cables.

Connect the SAS cable and DC cable to the Internal LTO as shown in the figure below. DC power cable from the system is connected to the DC connector of the SAS cable. After connecting the SAS cable, bundle the cables so that it does not interfere with the other devices or fan.

Uninstallation of Tape Device Driver Uninstall the tape device driver. Described of Uninstallation procedures for Windows Server 2012R2 operating system is described below. Uninstallation procedures for other operating system are basically the same. For Windows sever 2012R2 Log on as Administrator. Confirm the Tape drives on the Device Manager.
Handling The following explains how to handle the Internal LTO. Setting the Data Cartridge Make sure that proper data cartridge is used. While setting the data cartridge, do not turn off the server. This may cause a malfunction or the damage data. Make sure that LED is not blinking Confirm that the Write Protect Switch is correctly set.
Ejecting the Data Cartridge Confirm that the power for the Internal LTO is on. When the EJECT button is pressed, Internal LTO starts rewinding the tape. ( this may take a few minutes) In case of you turn off the power during the Internal LTO is running and turn on the power to the Internal LTO again, please wait until the Internal LTO will be in the Ready state, and then press the Eject Button and eject the cartridge.
Indication for the Status LED The Internal LTO status is notified by Status LED. For basic LED operation during normal operation, see “Part Name and Function”. Reading/Writing Data To read/write the data from/to the data cartridge, see the instruction manual provided with the backup application. Data Cartridge Part Name Write-protect switch Label It is recommended that you should affix a label to each cartridge to associate the data cartridge with backup data for easier identification as shown below.
Write-Protect Switch Writing of data in the tape is enabled or disabled by setting the write-protect switch. To protect the data from being erased, set the write-protect switch as shown in the figure below. Cautions on Handling Operational Cautions Before Use If a data cartridge is damaged, deformed or bent, do not use it. If the data cartridge is exposed to an environment other than the operating or storage environment, expose it to the operating environment for a longer time than the period when it is exposed to other environment (for 8 hours at maximum) before use.
Usage Inhibition Standard If a data cartridge that you are using is in the case below, you must replace it. When the data cartridge is given a strong shock, for example, when falling, and damaged. When the recording surface is contaminated with liquid, such as soft drink, coffee and tea, detergent, ...
Storing Important Data When storing important data or programs, it is strongly recommended that you should prepare and store the master tape and copy (backup) tape just in case. Further, we recommend that you verify backup software when saving, and check saved data. For details on verification, refer to the instruction manual for the backup software you are using.
