INTRODUCTION
This chapter details the software configuration for the EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON.

EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION
To configure the LAN9253 in SPI mode, the appropriate binary files (ESI files) must be
programmed into the EVB-LAN9253-ADD-ON configuration EEPROM.
The LAN9253 configures itself to the desired mode by reading the strap settings
located in EEPROM. The LAN9253 EEPROM is programmed and validated through
the TwinCAT host tool.

Perform the following step-by-step procedure to program the LAN9253 EEPROM with
the TwinCAT host tool:
1. Download and install MPLAB
2. Open MPLAB X IDE and open the project PIC24-SPI from the SDK. See
FIGURE 3-1:

This example utilizes the TwinCAT tool. Procedures may differ when
using other EtherCAT host tools.

Ensure that the system network properties are configured properly for the
EtherCAT frames, Ethernet cable linking your system, and EtherCAT
board.
