    Settings Installing the Battery in the Handset Insert the battery into the handset as shown (#), matching the correct polarity. Press the battery down until it places into the compartment ($).     Settings Dialing Mode You can program the dialing mode using the handset near the base unit. If you have touch tone service, set to TONE. If rotary or pulse service is used, set to PULSE.     •The MESSAGE PLAYBACK indicator flashes. Many states have imposed regulations on the manner in which 2-way telephone conversations may be recorded, so you should inform the other party that the conversation is being recorded. Consult your local telephone company for further information.

    Remote Code The remote code prevents unauthorized people from accessing your unit and listening to your messages. Choose any 2-digit number (00–99). The factory preset remote code is “11”. If you do not program your own remote code, you can use “11”. Make sure the unit is not being used and the handset is lifted off the base unit.

    Troubleshooting Cordless Telephone Problem An alarm tone sounds. Static, sound cuts in/out, fades. Interference from other electrical units. The unit does not ring. You cannot store a phone number in memory. While storing a phone number, the unit starts to ring.
