Night Portrait Assist

(night portrait assist) mode is used for taking
portrait shots at night, when it provides a natural
balance between the main subject and the back-
ground. Pictures taken at slow shutter speeds
are adjusted to improve quality, slightly increas-
ing processing time; to prevent blurring, mount
the camera on a tripod or rest it on a fl at, stable
surface. For more information on framing assist
options, see "
Portrait Assist" (

The Nikon CoolPix 3100 may be stuck on the Coolpix logo due to a malfunction, possibly related to lens issues or a problem with the memory card. The user reported that the lens sticks and requires battery removal to reset, and the display sometimes appears blank when trying to view pictures and videos. These issues suggest a possible hardware or firmware malfunction that may require repairs.
