BATTERIES

Apollo functions with either 4 AA alkaline batteries or the Black Diamond NRG Rechargeable Battery Kit (sold separately).

When using AA batteries:

  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Dispose of the used batteries properly.

Battery life will vary depending upon:

  • Battery source used.
  • Brand and freshness of batteries.
  • Ambient temperature.
  • Brightness setting used.

OPERATION

To turn the Apollo on (and off), depress the center orange switch

  • Apollo will always turn on at the brightest setting.
  • Hold down switch to dim or brighten.
  • Light will flash when the lowest light output setting is reached and begin to brighten.
  • Light will flash at the brightest light output.

To charge NRG Rechargeable Battery:

  • Peel back right side of charger plug cover.
  • Insert charger plug into lantern.
  • Battery power indicator will display a green light when battery is fully charged.
  • Do not charge at temperatures over 45°C (100°F).

BATTERY POWER INDICATOR

The Battery Power Indicator (BPI) light indicates how much battery life remains for the mode in use.
Green Light: > 50% battery life
Yellow Light: 20–50% battery life
Red Light: < 20% battery life
The BPI, when charging the NRG rechargeable battery, will also indicate charging status.
Red Light: < 30% charged
Yellow Light: < 85% charged
Green Light: 85–100% charged

Note: BPI lights turn off automatically after a few minutes.

CLEANING

Ensure that the lantern is clean and dry before and after each use and before storage.

  • DO NOT store the lantern wet.
  • DO NOT heat.
  • Use a damp cloth to clean the lantern. DO NOT submerge. Air dry.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the Apollo does not work:

  • Check that the batteries are oriented correctly and touching the contacts.
  • Replace the batteries.
  • Charge NRG Battery system.
  • Check the contacts and connections for corrosion and clean if necessary.
  • Work the switch several times.

The Black Diamond Apollo meets the requirements of the EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) Directive 89/336/EEC.

WARNINGS

  • A responsible adult must supervise use by children under the age of 12.
  • Always inspect your lantern for proper operation prior to using and, for critical situations, carry a second light and sufficient spare batteries.

Black Diamond Equipment is not responsible for the consequences, whether direct, indirect, or accidental, or for any other type of damage arising or resulting from the use of its products. You are responsible for your actions and activities and for any consequences that may result from them.

LIMITED WARRANTY

We warrant for one year from purchase date and only to the original retail buyer (Buyer) that our products (Products) are free from defects in material and workmanship. For lighting products, our warranty is for three years. If Buyer discovers a covered defect, Buyer should return the Product to the place of purchase. In the event that this is not possible, return the Product to us at the address provided. The Product will be repaired or replaced at our discretion. That is the extent of our liability under this Warranty and, upon expiration of the applicable warranty period, all such liability shall terminate. We reserve the right to require proof of purchase for all warranty claims.
